The Loveland Sports Weekly Roundup

Loveland teams turned in another busy and eventful week across the board, highlighted by a 3–1 stretch for baseball, a bounce‑back win for softball, dominant scoring from boys’ lacrosse, and continued success from volleyball and tennis. With standout performances in nearly every program, the Tigers are keeping momentum as the spring season moves forward.

Baseball

Loveland Baseball went 3-1 this week with wins over Lebanon, Kings, and Harrison. Against the Knights, Junior Luke Zicka had a double and three runs batted in. He’s now at .316 on the year while slugging .474. In a revenge win against Lebanon after a loss earlier in the week, Drew Oerther was dominant on the mound, going five innings with a ridiculous 12 strikeouts, and allowing just two hits.

The Tigers are now 13-2 (10-1) this season. Oerther and Blake Carrigan are still tops in the conference in home runs. The team has scored 96 runs in ECC play and their offense is humming as the spring schedule ramps up.

Softball

Loveland Softball ran into a bit of a buzz saw this week, losing to Campbell County 14-11 and then Little Miami 20-0. However, they bounced back for an impressive 8-6 win over West Clermont on Friday. Summer Rohlfs launched a home run, her third of the season. She also amassed 50 career steals for the Tigers this week. They are now back to .500 at 8-8 this year.

Lacrosse

The Boys team took down Lakota West 13-4 on Friday behind six goals from Lincoln Boldizsar (giving him 36 on the year) and three from Rocco Filia (who has 35 of his own this year). The Tigers are 10-2 (3-0) so far and have won three straight, notching wins over Mariemont and Sycamore this week alone.

They are currently ranked fifth in the greater Cincinnati area, and have a huge matchup with Milford, currently ranked second, on May 8 to end the regular season.

Girl’s lacrosse stands at 7-3 (3-2) on the year after a 15-8 loss against Kings and a 17-4 defeat at the hands of Indian Hill this week.

Boys’ Volleyball

Loveland’s volleyball team simply refuses to lose. They have now won seven straight, as they notched another win most recently against Turpin in three sets. The Tigers are now 16-1 (11-0) on the year and continue reign atop the ECC. Gavin McWaters is second in the conference with 213 kills while Evan Ledford is fourth in blocks with 30.

Boys’ Tennis

Loveland Tennis scored an early week win over Turpin, but dropped a tough one to Mason later on, 3-2 to move to 12-2 on the season. Bode Zappin remains undefeated in singles, now at 14-0 overall and 7-0 in the ECC.
