There are but a few weeks left in the regular season for our winter sports. Basketball had some impressive wins over some very tough teams, and many of our swimmers qualified for the sectional meet coming up soon. Our Loveland wrestlers were honored for their performances, and the Boys bowling team finished third in the ECC tournament.
Loveland Girls Basketball
The Tigers Girls team took down one of the best teams in the conference on Thursday, beating Winton Woods 63-49.
Bella Rogers was dominant with a double double of 23 points and 12 rebounds. She had plenty of support: Katy Wilber contributed 12 points and went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line, while Ryann Unruh added 11 points and dished out 4 assists. Point guard Anna Proano-Raps had 9 points, all of which came from behind the arc.
As a unit, Loveland's shooting was the story of the game, as they were 53.8% from the field. They tore it up from deep as well, knocking down 11-of-21 attempts (52.4%).
Loveland Boy’s Basketball
The Boys team came out hot against Oyler, scoring a season high 80 points. They shot 47 percent from the field and hit ten big threes in the victory. Chase Martin had 30 points off of 13/18 from the floor while Blake Carrigan had 19.
Unfortunately things didn’t go so well on Friday against Walnut Hills. The Tigers were on the wrong end of a 40-23 defeat. In that contest their offense just couldn’t get anything going as they were held to a season low in points scored. They managed just 20 percent from the field off of nine made baskets.
They have just one game left, against Little Miami, before postseason play begins.
Loveland Swimming
The Loveland girls’ swimming team had a stellar showing at the Sectionals meet, with several athletes punching their tickets to Districts. Isabelle Schroeder led the charge, qualifying in the 100 free and heading into the next round as the top seed in the 50 free. She will be joined in individual events by Hannah Schroeder, who secured her spots in both the 100 fly and the 200 free.
The team's relay performance was equally dominant, showing off some serious depth. Both the 200 free relay team (consisting of Hannah S., Chloe A., Lucia M., and Isabelle S.) and the 400 free relay team (featuring Isabelle S., Chloe M., Lucia M., and Hannah S.) successfully qualified for Districts. It was a fantastic weekend for these Tigers—congratulations to all the qualifiers!
The Boys’ Sectionals swim meet was a resounding success, featuring fantastic performances across the board. Leading the individual qualifiers, Dane Partusch earned his spot in the 500 free and 100 backstroke, while Caleb Simmons advanced in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, and Owen Mayer qualified in the 500 free.
Their relay teams also shined. The 200 Medley Relay (Dane P., Caleb S., Eli S., and Paxton M.), the 200 Free Relay (Caleb S., Kellen C., Paxton M., and Owen M.), and the 400 Free Relay (Kellen C., Dane P., Eli S., and Owen M.) all punched their tickets to Districts.
Loveland Wrestling
In yet another in a growing torrent of accolades, Loveland wrestler Elizabeth Madison was voted the Most Outstanding (upper weight) wrestler of the Queen of the Valley Tournament at Teay Valley HS where she tallied 4 wins with 4 pins on the day! Tori Lewis also took fifth place at the 190-pound weight class.
The Boys JV team took their talents to Elder City Championships this past weekend. The team delivered a strong performance, finishing 8th out of a deep field of 22 teams. Highlighting the weekend were three standout individual place winners: Tommy Gorehouse (106 lbs), who took 4th place; Jerome Davis (120 lbs), who secured 3rd place; and Gunner Huffine (132 lbs), who earned an impressive 2nd-place finish.
Loveland Bowling
The Loveland High School boys' bowling team delivered a solid performance at the Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC) Tournament, finishing third overall behind West Clermont and Lebanon. He was followed closely by Connor Burns, who finished in 11th place with a total score of 574. Other key bowlers were Tyler Schwinn (507), Miles Ewald (331), and Tyson Hendrix (331).
