New Outdoor Classroom Opens for Loveland Intermediate and Middle School Students

On August 20^th, Loveland City School leaders, students, as well as community members and leaders, gathered to celebrate the dedication of a new outdoor classroom to be used by Loveland Intermediate and Middle School students and staff. The outdoor classroom reflects the school district’s emphasis on engaging learning experiences and providing environments “where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.” The outdoor classroom will serve more than 1,200 students, grades 5-8.

The $100,000 project was spearheaded by the Loveland Schools Foundation and fully funded by more than 200 donors in the community. Project information from the Loveland Schools Foundation website reflects the philosophy and objectives behind this project: “Learning doesn’t only happen inside four walls. The Loveland Schools Foundation is proud to support the Loveland City School District’s Strategic Vision by investing in an LIS/LMS Outdoor Classroom for our Loveland Intermediate and Middle School students – a space designed to foster curiosity, innovation, wellness, and real-world learning.”

Speakers at the dedication included Student Ambassador and LHS Sophomore Brady Smith, Loveland Schools Foundation Executive Committee Chair Cain Turner, LCSD Superintendent Mike Broadwater, State Representative Karen Brownlee, and LCSD Board of Education Vice President Lynn Mangan.
