Kent Blair: So Long, My Friend

Good evening my friend.

This is what you might have heard at many city council meetings since last December, when councilmember Kent Blair became civilian Kent Blair.

Attending Loveland council meetings became a ritual. Several months ago, Kent slowly told his inner circle he had cancer.

This past Saturday, the City Hall Chamber was over filled with family, friends and present and former city administration as they honored, memorialized and reflected on the passing of Kent Blair.

Kent's sisters Deborah Blair and Kathleen Pesusic spoke of the California side of Kent, growing up as the smart big brother and other family stories. Mayor Kathy Bailey spoke of Kent's political start on Loveland council and relayed various stories regarding his five years on city council and the finance commission.

Former council member, Neal Oury also spoke of Kent's political side and their shared construction of the Adirondack chairs that populate along the bike trail downtown. Kent's brother in law, Danny Pesusic, followed with more family remembrances.

At the conclusion, a room filled with an eclectic mix of people, from California origins to Loveland life came together to say so long my friend.
