Courage 7.0: Loveland Students Push Toward $1 Million in Fight Against Blood Cancer

In the latest episode of the Loveland Weekly Podcast, interviewer Anna Meldon speaks with Loveland High School senior Paxton Merz about Courage 7.0 — a student-led fundraising campaign fighting blood cancer.

Courage 7.0 marks the seventh year of Team Courage’s participation in the Student Visionaries campaign supporting Blood Cancer United in the Cincinnati area. Since 2017, the team has raised more than $800,000. This year, their goal is to surpass $1 million in total funds raised.

For Paxton, the cause is personal. He lost his grandmother to cancer and recently supported a close friend through a lymphoma diagnosis. Watching that resilience firsthand inspired him to take action. “Everyone deserves the chance to grow up,” he shared, underscoring the campaign’s focus on protecting futures.

Alongside fellow student leaders Malia Fritch and Natalie Moran, Paxton helps coordinate a seven-week campaign powered by Loveland High School students. Fundraisers include T-shirt sales, coffee trucks, and community giveback nights at local restaurants. Donations can be made through individual team pages or directly to the overall campaign.

Beyond fundraising, Paxton described the leadership growth that comes from working with local businesses and community partners. Courage 7.0, he emphasized, is built on one simple truth: every dollar matters.
