The Loveland Sports Weekly Roundup

The weather is getting warmer and that means Loveland spring sports are about to be in full swing. But before we get there, it’s important to recognize the amazing career for one of Loveland’s best to ever lace up a pair of wrestling shoes. We also have a pair of undefeated starts for our volleyball and lacrosse squads.

Loveland Wrestling

For the third time in her career, Elizabeth Madison is a state champion. She pinned her way to the top yet again this year, and now has three titles in her high school career to go along with a finish as a state runner up as well. That is a body of work that few athletes statewide can match. Elizabeth rides off into the sunset as one of the most decorated wrestlers in Loveland history.

Loveland Lacrosse

The Loveland Boys Lacrosse team started the 2026 season blazing hot with three consecutive wins. They opened with a 19-12 victory over Lakota East, followed by a 15-2 win against Anderson. Just this past week they clobbered Frederick Douglass 15-3.

They’re currently 3-0 and atop the ECC. Rocco Filia leads the Tigers, and the entire conference, with 14 goals in those three games followed by Lincoln Boldizsar with nine. Adam King and Brendon Salm are tied with 6 assists each. In the net Will Weikert has registered 20 saves.

Boy’s Volleyball

The lacrosse team isn’t the only group without a loss in the spring season. The Loveland boy's volleyball team sits with an unblemished 7-0 record with wins over Mason, Bishop Fenwick, Anderson, Walnut Hills, and over powerhouse McNicholas. They added two more 3-0 set wins over Mt Vernon and Firestone over the weekend.

Gavin McWaters tops the ECC with 53 kills. Clay Bebout has 21 with Tyler McCaleb following closely at 20 while Andrew Dostal leads the conference with 66.
