A stretch of Loveland-Madeira Road became the site of a spirited community gathering last Saturday, as residents turned out for a “No Kings” rally held from 3 to 5 p.m. stretching from McDonald's all the way to Goodwill.
Under bright sunshine and temperatures hovering around 50 degrees, an estimated crowd of a few hundred lined the roadside with signs and chants, creating a lively and visible presence for passing traffic.
Participants described the mood as energized but peaceful. No organized counter-protesters were observed during the two-hour event, though reactions from drivers varied. Several vehicles passed by honking in support of the rally, while a few trucks sped past, revving their engines—gestures that appeared to signal support for Donald Trump.

Despite those moments, the atmosphere remained largely upbeat and orderly, with attendees engaging with one another and occasionally with passersby.
Conversations with participants revealed a common thread: fatigue. Several attendees said they felt worn down by the current political climate and the pace of national events. Others pointed to growing concern over international developments, particularly the ongoing war in Iran, as a source of frustration and anxiety.
While the rally centered on national themes, its setting along one of Loveland’s busiest corridors gave it a distinctly local feel. Shoppers moved in and out of nearby stores, and weekend traffic continued to flow steadily as the demonstration unfolded just a few feet from the road.

Events like Saturday’s rally highlight how national conversations continue to surface in local spaces, bringing residents together to express their views—whatever they may be—right here in Loveland.

The number of people seemed more than reported but the notable thing is it was greater than the last time. The passing cars honking, had thumbs up and No Kings signs were were overwhelmingly greater than the sporadic ones opposed to them, and in favor of Trump. The writer didn’t mention Trump’s name when he should have to report the numerous No Kings signs that had his name on them or his undemocratic roles, policies or actions. The “spirited” description was right. But “fatigue” was not as implied for those various things, from the conversatio we had with others.…
