Loveland Schools Announce Leadership Changes Ahead of 2026–27 School Year

The Loveland City School District has announced a series of administrative changes that will take effect for the 2026–27 school year, including new leadership at Loveland Intermediate School and a key role at the district level.

Current Loveland Intermediate School Principal Julie Carter will move into a new position as the district’s Director of Special Education. In that role, she will work across the district to support students and staff, reporting to Executive Director of Student Services Jesse Kohls.

“I am honored to step into this new role and begin collaborating with our dedicated staff and families across the entire district,” Carter said. “I am deeply committed to ensuring we meet the individualized needs of every student through collaboration and strategic support.”

Carter has led Loveland Intermediate School since 2021 and previously served four years as assistant principal. Before joining Loveland, she spent nine years as a Special Education Supervisor in West Clermont Schools.

With Carter’s move to the central office, current assistant principal John Hart will step into the role of principal at Loveland Intermediate School.

“I am incredibly excited to step into this new role,” Hart said. “I am grateful to have worked with this amazing group of people for the past five years, and to have the opportunity to continue to be a part of this team is awesome.”

Hart has served as assistant principal since 2021 and brings prior experience as a math teacher at Loveland High School, as well as in Middletown and Springfield school districts. He is also a member of The Loveland City Council.

Joining the leadership team at the intermediate school will be Kristen Overbeck, who has been named the new assistant principal.

“I’m beyond excited to become a Tiger and step into this new chapter with such an incredible community,” Overbeck said. “My passion for 5th and 6th grade runs deep, and I can’t wait to build meaningful relationships and grow together every day.”

Overbeck most recently served as assistant principal at Little Miami Primary School and brings more than a decade of experience as a special education teacher in the Sycamore Community School District.

Superintendent Mike Broadwater said the moves reflect both the strength of internal leadership and the district’s ability to attract new talent.

“We are fortunate to have a roster of talent in the district when we need to fill positions, and to be able to attract great candidates, too,” Broadwater said. “I’m excited to see Julie and John in their new roles, and to welcome Kristen into the Loveland family.”

The changes will take effect ahead of the next school year as the district continues to adjust leadership roles to meet the needs of students and staff across Loveland.
