Loveland Names 2026 Valentine Lady and Celebrates a Beloved Tradition

By. Mike Meldon

Loveland is once again getting ready to share its heart with the world, and this year’s Valentine season comes with some special recognitions.

Congratulations to Cynthia Tait, who has been named the 2026 Loveland Valentine Lady, and to Lynn Oury, whose artwork will be featured on the 2026 Loveland Valentine’s Day card. A big thank-you also goes to the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance for continuing to organize and support a tradition that has become part of Loveland’s identity.

For decades, Loveland’s Valentine celebration has been about much more than cards and candy. Known as the Sweetheart of Ohio, the city has built a national reputation for spreading love every February — and at the center of that tradition is the Valentine Lady.

How the Valentine Lady Tradition Began

Loveland’s Valentine program dates back to the early 1970s, when the local chamber introduced a special Valentine postmark. What started as a simple idea quickly grew as people from around the country began sending their valentines through Loveland to get that special stamp.

Over time, the celebration expanded to include events, contests, and community involvement. In the early 1990s, the role of Valentine Lady became an official annual honor. Each year, a woman is selected who has made a meaningful impact in the Loveland area through service, volunteerism, leadership, and dedication to the community.

What a Valentine Lady Does

The Valentine Lady serves as a goodwill ambassador for Loveland during the Valentine season. She visits local schools, senior centers, and community events, helping spread messages of kindness and connection. She also represents Loveland during Valentine activities and often helps with the famous Valentine re-mailing program, where thousands of cards from around the world are stamped and sent out from Loveland.

Most importantly, the Valentine Lady represents the spirit of the community — generosity, warmth, and caring for one another.

Honoring the 2026 Valentine Lady and Card Artist

As the 2026 Valentine Lady, Cynthia Tait joins a long line of women who have helped keep this tradition alive. Her selection reflects her commitment to the community and the positive impact she has made in Loveland.

This year’s celebration also features the artwork of Lynn Oury, whose design will appear on the official 2026 Valentine’s Day card. Each year, the card is something residents and visitors look forward to, and Oury’s work adds a personal, artistic touch to a tradition that reaches far beyond city limits.

A Loveland Tradition That Continues

Loveland’s Valentine traditions remain a point of pride for the community. Through the efforts of volunteers, the Chamber, and people who care deeply about the city, the celebration continues to grow while staying rooted in what makes Loveland special.

Congratulations again to Cynthia Tait and Lynn Oury and thank you to everyone who helps make Valentine’s Day in Loveland something truly meaningful — both here at home and around the world.
