Loveland City School District has once again demonstrated its commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility, earning the “Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting” from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International for fiscal year 2025.
This prestigious national honor places Loveland among the top 4% of school districts in the United States recognized for outstanding financial reporting practices. Only about 600 school districts nationwide receive this distinction each year.

For more than 50 years, ASBO International has encouraged school districts to go beyond minimum reporting standards by preparing their annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and issuing an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). These reports are then evaluated through ASBO’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) program, which highlights districts that demonstrate transparency, accuracy, and accountability in financial management.
“Earning a place in the top 4% nationally is a testament to our team’s hard work and transparency,” said John Espy, Treasurer of Loveland City School District. “By going beyond what is required, we ensure our resources are positioned where they matter most supporting our staff and driving student success.”
Espy credited the district’s achievements to the collaboration and dedication of staff across departments. “I want to recognize all the district staff for this, as well as the Treasurer’s Office team—it is a team effort to follow best accounting practices and be fiscally responsible with the tax dollars entrusted to us by our community,” he said.
The Certificate of Excellence serves as more than just an award—it reinforces the district’s credibility with taxpayers, educators, and the broader community. By adhering to high standards of accountability, Loveland City School District continues to ensure that public resources are managed with integrity and used to foster student achievement and operational excellence.
