Cara Jacob, Running for Ohio State Senate District 7
I never planned on running for office. My life was already full as a doctor, a mom, and a volunteer in my community.
But over the past few years, I’ve watched decisions made in Columbus make life harder for the people I care for. Many of my patients are struggling with the rising cost of healthcare, putting their health coverage and access to treatment at risk. What good is the treatment I prescribe if insurance denies coverage or a medication remains unaffordable even after insurance pays it’s share? I realized that to truly advocate for my patients, I needed to take that fight beyond the exam room.
I’ve also seen how state decisions are affecting our public schools and the families who depend on them. Ohio must do a better job of fairly funding public education. When the state fails to meet its responsibility, too much of the burden falls on local property taxpayers and when levies don’t pass, schools are forced to make difficult decisions about teachers, staff, transportation, and educational programs. That isn’t fair to taxpayers, students, or educators.
As I’ve talked with voters across the district I’ve heard a common frustration: families are working hard, yet more and more of their paychecks are going toward healthcare, property taxes, skyrocketing utilities and everyday expenses. People are ready for leaders who will listen, put our communities first, and focus on practical solutions.
I’m running for State Senate in District 7 to bring common-sense leadership to Columbus, ensure our public schools are fairly funded, make sure taxpayer dollars serve our communities rather than special interests, and lower costs for working families. On November 3, I’m asking for your vote so we can deliver practical solutions to build a stronger future for all Ohioans.
