Building More Than a Team: Coach Jenny Young and the Future of Loveland Softball

Spring has arrived in Loveland, and so has another exciting season on the diamond. On this episode of the Loveland All Sports Podcast, host Josh catches up with Coach Jenny Young, now in her second year leading the Loveland High School girls softball program. A former third baseman at Purdue University and a passionate hitting coach, Young shares her path through college ball, her coaching roots at the University of Indianapolis, and her move to Cincinnati with her wife as they’ve built a home and life in the community.

Coach Young opens up about her person-first, player-second approach, the importance of team chemistry, and what it takes to turn good players into great leaders. She and Josh dive into the changing landscape of girls’ sports, the rise of confidence and power in female athletes, and the life lessons that come from teamwork, hard work, and ownership—down to keeping your cleats clean and your dugout swept.

From laughter over cereal debates to heartfelt moments of mentorship and senior leadership, this episode captures the heart of what makes high school sports matter. Tune in to hear how Coach Young is shaping not just a team, but a legacy for Loveland softball and for the next generation of young women in sports.
