The Loveland Weekly Sports Roundup

The Tigers regular seasons are coming to a close. In many cases, postseason tournaments are already underway. Loveland wrestling crowned two champions, while the bowling team is on its way sectionals. There were podium finishes aplenty for our wrestlers and swimmers as well. Check out all the best from the past week!

 

Loveland Basketball

 

The Boys regular season came to a close this week on a high note. The team won four out of its last five to finish 8-8 in the ECC. They took the finale against Little Miami 58-31. Chase Martin had 20 off of 8/11 shooting from the field while Blake Carrigan had 19. The Tigers as a team shot 50 percent from the field while holding Little Miami to just 31 points.

 

Martin led the conference in overall points with 452 and was second in per game scoring at 20.5 PPG. Carrigan was 16th at 11.5. Chase also finished sixth in the ECC with 6.3 rebounds per game and second in steals (57). Overall the Tigers were 8-8 in the conference and 12-10 on the year.

 

Next for the Tigers will be the district tournament and we will have all that action as it unfolds!

On the Girls side after their win over Little Miami they will be heading to the first round of the district tournament against Ursuline. That game will take place at 7:30 PM on February 24th at Princeton High School. The Tigers are seeded fourth in their bracket and if they are victorious will play the winner of Riverside Stebbins and Clayton Northmont.

 

In their 47-42 victory over Little Miami to close out the regular season, Katy Wilber led the way with 17 points and 4 rebounds. Ryann Unruh had three triples and eight points as the Tigers won the turnover battle (13-9) and cleaned up the glass (25-20 – including 10 offensive boards), which proved to be the difference. Loveland finishes 8-8 in the conference and 14-8 overall.

 

Girl’s Wrestling

 

Loveland crowned two conference champions this weekend. Elizabeth Madison at 170lbs and Tori Lewis 190lbs, with Buckner finishing fourth. Next up are the sectional matches at Western Brown next Friday!

Boy’s Wrestling

 

The Loveland Boys placed 4th as a team at the ECC Men’s Wrestling meet this weekend, facing the best competition from around the conference.

 

The Tigers had seven individual placers: Reece Webster (3rd), Jerome Davis (3rd), Will Hossenlopp (4th), Eric Earl (2nd), Shane Murray (2nd), Danny Waters (2nd), and Tristan Neal (2nd).

Loveland Swimming

 

Our swimmers also had their try at the district meet this weekend. Isabelle Schroeder took the top spot in the 50 Free and got third in the 100 Free. Not to be outdone, Hannah Schroeder got sixth in the 100 Butterfly and seventh in the 100 Free.

Loveland Bowling

 

In their sectional tournament the Tigers Boys’ team advanced on to the next round thanks to Tyson Hendrix high game of 225. Kian Bronner had the high series with 627.
