Loveland High School and Loveland Elementary Earn Five-Star Recognition from State

Loveland, Ohio — Loveland City School District is celebrating a major academic achievement after two of its buildings were recognized with the “Overall 5-Star Building Award” from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

Loveland High School and Loveland Elementary School both earned the distinction based on results from the 2024–25 Ohio School Report Card, placing the buildings among the state’s top-performing schools.

District Superintendent Mike Broadwater said the recognition reflects the commitment of educators, students, and families throughout the community.

“We are fortunate to have amazing staff and outstanding families supporting our students in Loveland,” Broadwater said. “This recognition of academic excellence is a testament to our wonderful community and the strong partnerships that make great things happen inside and outside of the classroom.”

What the Five-Star Award Means

Ohio’s report card system evaluates public schools across six key areas of performance:

  • Achievement

  • Progress

  • Gap Closing

  • Early Literacy

  • Graduation

  • College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness

Schools that score highly across these categories can earn the Overall 5-Star Building Award, which signifies that a building has exceeded state standards across multiple measures of student success.

District Also Ranked in Top Tier Statewide

In addition to the building recognitions, the Loveland City School District received an overall rating of four and a half stars, placing it in the top 10% of all Ohio public school districts, according to district officials.

Broadwater noted that the building-level recognition highlights the leadership and work happening inside individual schools.

“Having Loveland Elementary School and Loveland High School recognized as ‘5-Star’ buildings shows that we are working hard to make sure every child is successful,” Broadwater said. “Congratulations to two great leaders — Loveland Elementary School Principal Jen Forren and Loveland High School Principal Dave Spencer.”

Continuing a Tradition of Excellence

District leaders say the recognition reflects years of work by teachers, administrators, and families focused on strong academic outcomes and student opportunities.

The Ohio School Report Card data is released annually by the state and provides a comprehensive look at district and building performance across multiple academic and student-success metrics.

Residents interested in reviewing the full results can explore the district’s report card data on the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce website.

For Loveland schools, the recognition is another reminder of the strong educational foundation supporting students across the community.
